52. الطور

Number of verses: 49

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيم

وَالطُّورِ﴿1﴾

1. By the Mount (Sinai),

وَكِتَابٍ مَّسْطُورٍ﴿2﴾

2. by the book (Torah) written

فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ﴿3﴾

3. on parchment for distribution,

وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ﴿4﴾

4. by the established House (Mecca),

وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ﴿5﴾

5. by the high ceiling (heaven),

وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ﴿6﴾

6. and by the swelling ocean,

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ﴿7﴾

7. the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place

مَّا لَهُ مِن دَافِعٍ﴿8﴾

8. and no one will be able to prevent it

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا﴿9﴾

9. On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly

وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا﴿10﴾

10. and the mountains quickly move

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿11﴾

11. Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ﴿12﴾

12. and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations)

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا﴿13﴾

13. On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire

هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿14﴾

14. and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ﴿15﴾

15. Is it magic or do you not still see?

اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿16﴾

16. Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds"

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ﴿17﴾

17. The pious will live in bountiful Paradise,

فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ﴿18﴾

18. talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿19﴾

19. They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done"

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ﴿20﴾

20. They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ﴿21﴾

21. The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions

وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُم بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ﴿22﴾

22. We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire

يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ﴿23﴾

23. They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ﴿24﴾

24. They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ﴿25﴾

25. They will turn to one another ask questions,

قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ﴿26﴾

26. saying, "We were afraid while in the world

فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ﴿27﴾

27. But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ﴿28﴾

28. We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful"

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ﴿29﴾

29. (Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ﴿30﴾

30. Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?"

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ﴿31﴾

31. Say, "Wait, I too am waiting with you"

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُم بِهَٰذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ﴿32﴾

32. Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿33﴾

33. Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith

فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ﴿34﴾

34. Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim

أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ﴿35﴾

35. Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators?

أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ﴿36﴾

36. Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ﴿37﴾

37. Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God?

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ﴿38﴾

38. Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority?

أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ﴿39﴾

39. Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you?

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ﴿40﴾

40. Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ﴿41﴾

41. Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)?

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ﴿42﴾

42. Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿43﴾

43. Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols

وَإِن يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ﴿44﴾

44. Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud"

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ﴿45﴾

45. So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ﴿46﴾

46. and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿47﴾

47. The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know

وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ﴿48﴾

48. Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ﴿49﴾

49. and glorify Him after the setting of the stars
